Lance decided to sign up for a half-marathon in January 2012. He really enjoyed his race because it was more a trail run. He ended up having some friends who were also training for the race that he teamed up with for his long runs so it was fun for them to start the race together. Despite the fact that it was a trail run he was still able to reach is goal of running it in under 2 hours. He was almost TOO fast because we were driving up to meet him at the finish line and made it JUST in time. We were lucky to spot him coming down the final stretch to catch a picture!
We decided to make this a family event and Mia signed up to do the Kid's 1 mile, and Maddi and I ran the Family Fun Run which was also a 1 mile run.
Running Buddies
There was tons of fun stuff to do before an after the race. Here are the girls getting hula-hoop lessons!
Mia crossing finish line.
I was so proud of both girls! Mia had to do her run all by herself and she was brave as ever and ran the whole thing. :) She was super fast too. And Maddi and I got to run together and she was so cute because she wanted to hold my hand almost the whole time. Somehow it gave her confidence because she never stopped even though she was tired and she ran (we did skip a few times) the whole thing also!
Enjoying Great Harvest Pancakes after the race.
Mia waiting to start
Good Job Mia!
Wait to Go Maddi!
All the girls. Macee really was here too but was probably being patient as ever in her car seat. That or sleeping in it! :)
After the race we got a fun surprise visit from my Uncle Robb and Aunt Nancy. They were so nice to drive in terrible traffic from LA to stop by for a few minutes before having to head right back out to the airport!
The girls were trying really hard to get Nancy to make a "silly" face. :)
