St. George….Mary Poppins!

We had all been looking forward to seeing Mary Poppins at the Tuacahn outdoor Ampitheater in St. George all year long. It was worth the wait. We were glad that we had finished reading the book as a family before we went because there were some things in the show that were not in the Movie. Such a great experience. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Nelson. :)

It ended up being the hottest weekend of the year. Getting up to 123 degrees. The California Wimps we've become, we were dying although we decided it was a toss up in some ways because we got to enjoy air conditioning in St. George whereas here we don't have that luxury (It gets hot here but only for a few weeks). But Wow it was HOT. My kids kept telling me that their "eyes burned!"

We only last 20 minutes but it was fun to go with Lisa, Jason and their family to see the sand dunes. Hard to see it in the picture bur the sand is really red. After this we enjoyed playing in the reservoir. As long as there is water around, you can handle the heat. Lance and I decided there were SOME benefits to the heat. The kids were so thirsty all the time that we rarely heard requests for snacks…even while driving. They wanted to bask in the AC and drink drink drink…that's it! We were grateful that everyone stayed hydrated enough to not get heat stroke. :)

So fun to see cousins. A few of Lance's siblings also came with their families so it was like a mini family Reunion!

Happy Father's Day

Macee's first time….not much of a fan.

Maddi's art portfolio from Kindergarten. Every Wednesday is "Messy Wednesday".  Rather than save ALL the projects we save a couple and take pictures of the rest so we can remember them!

Maddi did a portrait of Ella. :)

Lance had to help throw a Baby Shower for a co-worker. We were planning to do a diaper cake, and although I decorated it, Lance researched how to make it and had it all put together on his own. Love it!

Dance Recital June 2013

Cute little Ella.

Maddi's picture from last year made into the photographer's add. :)

Maddi…love that little smile

Because Mia was in 2 dances she had to do a quick outfit change and the second dance they needed their hair in a bun so they recommended that we get a "fake ponytail" that you just clip on top of the bun. Hillarious but it worked!

I had fun making the bows for Ella's class! We discovered at dress rehearsal and the 2 performances that Ella has some stage fright. There was nothing we could do to get her up on that stage. At first I thought she really wanted to do her routine but was just scared and that she'd be disappointed if she didn't actually go out there, so I tried every trick/bribe in the book to help her feel good about going out there.  But after the second performance I realized she just wasn't' ready for the performance aspect. It was funny because at both performances when it came time for ALL the dancers to go on stage and bow she had NO problem going out. On the way home she was so happy and said, "Mom I got my first Medal!!!" I guess that's all she cared about and she felt like a success. We asked her why she felt scared and she said, "I was afraid people would smile at me"…what??? Then she told me "I think when I'm 5 I'll go on the stage." :) I guess the attention all on her was just too much.
