The Best Christmas Present

On December 23rd we got the best Christmas Present and took the girls with us to my ultrasound appointment to see our baby and find out that we are having ....

A Girl

For those of you who may not have known.... I am due May 13th!

And the best news was that she looked very healthy. Mia was quite excited about the whole process and wanted to watch the video as soon as we got home. When the ultrasound tech asked if we had any names Mia immediately said, "Lucy" (coincidentally the name of one of her favorite preschool friend's sister). We since discovered that she's not really stuck on one particular name this week she has been calling the baby "Baby Abigail" (another one of her friend's names) so we'll see if she's okay when she finds out that Mom and Dad are the ones who put the name on the birth certificate!

Now we are debating going with the M theme or something totally different so send us all your girl name ideas, we're starting to run low over here. :)

Christmas Day

The Girls waiting to go out and see what Santa Brought
For the longest time whenever we asked Mia what she wanted Santa to bring her for Christmas "gum shooters" were on her list. We could not for the life of us figure out what "Gum shooters" were. We tried to have her describe them to us and our best guess was that it fell into the Pez dispenser category, we passed this hint along to Santa and thankfully he got it right and she was pleased with her "Gum Shooters". She is pretending to make the reindeer talk in this picture.

Maddi's all time favorite gifts this year, were her baby clothes, her diaper bag, baby carrier and keys. She carried them around all morning and it was hard to get her to open anything else. She did get a new baby doll but completely rejected it in place of her old favorite doll (which actually belonged to me as a child!) It always makes us laugh to see how attached Maddi gets to "things".

Lance helped Mia make a Microphone and guitar with her Tinkertoys and she quickley began pretending to be "Hannah Ontana" (as she calls her). Don't ask me HOW in the world she knows who she is but anytime we're in a store she can point her out .

Mia's big gift this year was doll house. Santa was very excited because he got great deal on this HUGE doll house which is so big you can fit a small child in (as shown)

On Christmas Day we always have a traditional big dinner and we decided to have a little fun and get all dressed up in order to let Mia break in some of her new dress-ups. So we let the girls pick out any dress-up they wanted to wear, I pulled out an old Brides maid dress (remember this Tiff?), and Lance got out his suit and tie and had fun making a big deal out of our at home meal. :)

Merry (early) Christmas To Me!

Well after much research and looking and getting some great negotiating tips from my Brother, Lance and I bought a mini van! We had decided it just wasn't practical to try and squeeze three children into our 91 Chevy Lumina (even though you really CAN technically fit three car seats in the back of it) and we took the plunge.

And I have to say that I am loving the mini van thing way more then I thought it would. I love all the extra space and it's so much easier to get the kids in and out. Who knew! And it doesn't hurt that I can now play CDs in my car, and that I can click the little button to unlock the doors. We have loved our Lumina (or Mina as our friends loving began referring to it, after the first two letters in "Lumina" fell off one day). We bought it from Lance's Grandma, it had low miles, was a great deal, has taken us cross country, and has awesome red crushed velvet interior that is extremely comfortable, but it's time for us to move on! We actually haven't sold the Lumina yet but only time will tell. :)

Christmas Eve

We normally just spend Christmas Eve with our little family but we decided after the girls taking awesome afternoon naps and finishing up with all our own Family Traditions that we still had some time left to go do a little celebrating with some friends. We had so much fun because there were so many people of different ages and it felt like being at a family get together. Something we don't get these days living so far from everyone in both of our families. Mia had a blast getting to participate in a little Nativity play and her new Tinkerbell robe was a great addition for her role as a Shepherd. :)

Mia was trying to be funny for the picture but we were cracking up watching Maddi try and imitate her.

One of our traditions is to open one gift on Christmas Eve and as you can see it normally involves jammies of some sort.

Christmas Eve Dinner- Tamales!!! We look so forward to Christmas Eve dinner when we get to eat Tamales. I don't know why we never eat them any other time of year but it does make it more exciting when Christmas Eve comes around. We used to make them ourselves but we have a connection to someone here who makes them and sells them and now we just buy them instead. Another thing to look forward to on Christmas Eve...no cooking!

We always make Gingerbread Houses on Christmas Eve and this year we added a little twist by using an idea I did with my preschool class. Sugar Cone Gingerbread houses. These are GREAT for little kids.

Gotta love Christmas Dresses and especially when they are hand-me-downs! Maddi's used to be Mia's and Mia's used to be her cousin Isabel's. Thanks Bel!
