Funny Mia Comment

The other night at Dinner I left table for some reason and upon returning I heard Lance getting onto Mia for not behaving and he finally resorted to saying "How many times do I have to tell you....." I decided to try and engage in the battle myself and help out, when Mia responded without missing a beat by saying...."FIVE!"
Lance and I both immediately started cracking up laughing, Mia looked at us like we were slightly crazy because she was completely serious in her answer, and needless to say all the tension left very quickly.

Things they Learn

It took only ONE morning of watching Lance eat his cereal and finish up by drinking the milk out of the bowl for Maddi to pick up on it. She now does this EVERY morning with her cereal! :)

Barber Shop

This brings back SO many memories for me. When my sisters and I were little my Dad would always let us play "Barber Shop" when got to play with his hair and we loved it! We had a little squirt bottle, and combs and brushes, and clips and we'd come up with all sorts of creations. Mia has been really into fixing hair lately, and one day while I was taking a much needed nap after preschool and she was having "Quiet Time" I heard her come into my room, climb up on the bed and felt her brushing my hair, I decided to let her go for it and put clips in my hair and everything and it was great because I got to relax and she was having fun. I now realize why my Dad loved Barber Shop as much as we did! So when Lance came home the other day he was really tired and so I said, Hey Mia why don't you fix Daddy's hair. She was so excited and got out all her clips and had a blast fixing Lance's hair. I was cracking up because she kept telling him "Oh Daddy you look Adorable!"

Bal-la-lay Class

Mia is taking a little Dance class taught by a friend of mine and she just LOVES it. Ever since she got to watch her cousin Isabel's ballet class when we were in Seattle, she has talked about taking a "Bal-la-lay" class (as she calls it). I haven't yet taken any pictures of her AT class but I took these pictures of her in her ballet outfit after class. I think for the Mom's one of the best parts is seeing all the cute little girls in their leotards, tutus, and tights!

Price of Beauty

It's so funny to watch Maddi grow up in the wake of an older sister. She was walking around on Sunday with Mia's Snow White Dress up Shoes, very focused on getting the "walking in heels" thing down and did surprisingly well.

Cute Pigtails

I've started putting pigtails in Maddi's hair and I remember with Mia the day I put her hair in pigtails was like a right of passage and made her seem so old and now here's my little Maddi (who I really consider to be a baby still) with pigtails! Time Flies

Playing Outside

Tag Team

Maddi the "Thrill Chaser" going down the slide head first

Maddi trying to get to the top of the Slide the most difficult way! She would get to this point, get stuck and then say "Hep pease, Hep pease" until I would come and squeeze her body through the circle.

Back to her Texas Roots!

Yet another Preschool Costume (we really should never have to buy another Halloween Costume)! So funny thing about the first picture is that I told Mia before taking the picture "Okay show me your Guns!" and she said "What? What do you mean" It never occured to me that she wouldn't know what a gun was so I tried to SHOW her how to pose with your "Guns" and this was her best interpretation! Haha. (Lance and I thought it looked a little more like a gang sign then a Gun!) In contrast (because I've heard with little boys it's almost innate and EVERYTHING becomes a gun) at preschool one day I was having the kids listen to some classical music and I gave them scarves to "move" with however they wanted, and by the end of the song the little boys had turned their scarves into Guns and were chasing the little girls around.

Awesome Hair Accessories

Usually it's the crazy outfit choices that are so fun to see, but this particular day Mia was all into the hair accessories. In this first picture she is wearing a Doll highchair cover on her head, the other is a newborn head band!

Fun on Date Night

I bought a bunch of Costumes recently that I could use for preschool and on Date Night the girls just love it when I bring them out and let them play with them. They pretty much entertain themselves with the costumes the whole night. I thought they looked so adorable all dressed up and had to take some pictures. Maddi was cracking me up because of her little "Cheese" face!

ER Baby

I have decided that Maddi is going to be our ER child. The one with all the broken bones, and major accidents. Not only is she absolutely FEARLESS, but her falls always result in major injuries. When she was 3 months old she burnt her fingers really bad with blisters and everything. When she was a little over a year old she fell on a little match box car and sliced her skin open just above her lip and below her nose. We debated about taking her to the ER to see about getting stitches and opted not to (she still has a tiny scar that I just HOPE doesn't look obvious when she's older). And the lates and GREATEST is what you see in these pictures. One Sunday we had just gotten home from church and Lance had run out the door to go hometeaching, and I was making dinner as fast as I could so we could eat, Lance could get home, and I could leave to attend a Fireside I was in charge of. Everything was timed out to the minute and Mia and Maddi were playing. Maddi wanted to try on Mia's helmet (funny that a helmet is involved in this story but yet did nothing to protect the head) and had it on backwards, so Mia (being the typical big Sister that she is) wanted to help her put it on the right way so she kept trying to corall her into a place where she could get her to hold still long enough to fix it. She finally got right behind her and grabbed her around the waist, tripped and fell INTO Maddi slamming her into the corner of a wall. As soon as I picked her up her head just erupted forming the Largest GOOSE EGG I have ever seen and it just kept getting bigger. I called my neighbor to come over and take a look and as soon as I saw her face I knew it was bad. These pictures are actually a day later, so you can't really see the full effect. Thankfully she took Mia home with her (as I was pretty much in shock at this point) and I started trying to get ahold of Lance, one of my counselors to figure things out with the fireside it looked like I wouldn't be attending, and tried to find my keys. It always seems like the worst things happen on the Busiest Days! But anyway...Lance came with us to the ER and they were able to just use dermabond (aka. SuperGlue) on her cut, and opted not to do a Catscan (apparently while a GooseEgg can be a sign of internal bleeding, when doing a Catscan on a child that young there is a 1% chance that they could develop cancer later on....talk about a catch 22), and we were litterally in and out in about 45 minutes...record time for an ER visit....and were back home to put the kids in bed.
Some days I wonder if it's just me being a terrible Mom and not protecting her enough because somehow these things never happened to Mia, but to make myself feel better I just say it's her little personality. The ultimate explorer!!!!

Ready for Fall

The weather here has been so crazy lately. I have finally accepted the fact that Summer is over and I've actually been looking forward to busting out the Fall clothing. This particular Saturday we woke up and got ready to go the Farmer's market and run some other errands and it seemed really cold so I got excited and got the girls dressed like this but by the end of the first stop, it was SO warm and Mia kept telling me how hot she was! :) Anyway....today for instance I took the girls out on a walk before nap time and it was so hot, I swear we could have gotten the pool out. While I definately enjoy the warm weather, it's so weird to have 80 degree weather in September....Crazy! Watch...next month it will snow!
